My work space(s) & where I create...

As some of you who don't know, I do have a studio space but I still don't have real walls up (or ceiling, or floors or any good storage space *rolling my eyes*). So to show you where I do my work and create my art, I thought I should start right here by my computer desk, and that's in the kitchen. I love sitting here, I can see the garden from here and I'm close to everything. Only problem is that it is in the kitchen, so everyone loves to dump their stuff on the desk (I have to clean it up almost every day). I keep my note books and bills in my antique toast holder (seen on the left hand side, I love that thing).

My next space to work in, is our dining room table and its easy to clean up (as I don't do any messy work here (with oils or acrylics). I have my portable studio on the side and that thing goes with me all around the house. Its a Butlers tray I bought many years ago, and it has been super handy.

This is one of my travel studios (this one for ink and water colours), it fits well in to my purse.

And then it comes to that so called studio space (yes the one that has no walls, floor or ceiling), it looks like a total mess, but a mess that works for now. The plan is to put up the walls, lay down cork flooring, and have built in storage. All furniture will be white, walls white, teal green and orange (my man thinks I'm nuts with that colour combination, and that's fine because that will mean he wont go in there to dump stuff all over the place : )

The storage I have right now is very ugly to say at least, and its a nightmare for space. But here it is...

Books, mags and all kinds of files and papers...
Below, is some of my paints and other painting stuff, cards, glue and more cards

Below here is my stack of more papers, templates, canvas, for mixed media and anything else you can think of to use with art. And all is pressed nicely under a few of many portfolios that I have.

So here is the clean end of my studio space, my one and only real wall (if you can see it behind all that stuff)... I call this my inspiration wall and where I can either draw or do sewing, or do the part I hate the most (my paper work, file invoices and income tax, ugh).

Some of the things on my shelf above my desk (I forgot to mention, the desk is falling apart as well, my new desk is in the garage, collecting stuff from everyone no doubt)

My small sewing tray (retro looking TV plate/tray), handy little thing.

And here is the messy and the very none eye pleasing side of my studio (as interior decorator, I have to say this makes my skin crawl each time I see this)... But this is where I do the messy bit so its a bit okay. My old (very large) drafting table is now a work top for when I work on my mixed media, cut matting or just like to spread out stuff (my stuff).

So that's it, this is where I create my work. Each day is different, depending on what I work on will decide where I will be in the house. One day everything will be in one and same space (oh I cant wait), that dream will happen this coming fall or so its planed. I'm a very messy worker, I love getting right in to the paint, glue, fabrics and what ever I can get my hand on and I always like to work on different things at the same time. My work (except for my real job, the illustrating part) is all different styles and media, its all about what my mood and heart feels like doing at the time.

This is my place to be "me" and I love it, I'm very lucky to be able to work from home (most of the time) and be here for my kids when they need me. No walls or not, I am very blessed for what I have and to have a very loving and supportive husband, thank you baby. And thank you kids for finally know the word "No", oh, you're growing up so fast.
And I cant forget Charlie my secretary, he is such a wonderful mate to have around and he loves to sleep when I'm working, or he will run up and down the stairs and bring all his toys down. I thought this is a funny picture, he knows he cant be on the sofa, but one time I came upstairs (after I painted) and who did I find on the sofa having a snooze.
