Back from vacation...

And what a vacation it was {as always, felt like time flew by far too fast}...  This year, I didn't go on a annual canoe trip, but after Mr B came home from the one he went on, he and I went on a trip together just the two of us.  And it was a trip we both needed more than we thought before we left.

First we went to the great Georgian Bay, Killbear provincial park {the name of this place has many tales to why its called Killbear, however the local natives Ojibwa's call this place "Mukwa Nayoshing" that translates to "Bear Point"}...  There is active bears in the camp ground and areas around it, but I like the native name better for this amazing place.  We had only one day of grey skies and rain, rest of the time it was hot and beautiful blue skies.

Grey or not, we went for a nice hike up to a lookout point, I did a quick sketch in my Moleskine book.  Took a picture too and as you can see a lot of trees and bushes are already red, but its not due to fall, but to the terrible drought we had for over two months...

After our hike it started to rain like mad, so instead of cooking in our dine tent we drove down to Snug Harbour and went to Gillies for dinner.  Its a pretty small harbour and it only has one tiny store and above it the restaurant Gillies and its very popular, and we had to wait over an hour to get a table...  During this wait, we walked around and I took pictures.
Thank heavens for modern rain gear!!!

After our stay in Killbear, we were heading down south to the Bay of Quinte and Prince Edward County and along our trip down there we took the scenic route through the Muskokas.  Stopping all over the place so I could take pictures and Mr B took me up to the Dorset fire tower.  I have usually no problems with height, but this time {and don't be fooled by my smile, because its not a smile but me being nervous and feeling like I was going to vomit...  maybe it had something to do with the fact that we could see through the steps, floor and everything was covered in water from the mist and clouds}.
Ugh, what I have to move??? I feel sick!!!
Down in Bay of Quinte, we had again one day/night of rain.

After that we had again beautiful blue skies and it was hot, we hiked some but most of the time we just took it easy by relaxing by the water. In between we drove around the county and enjoying the views, antique shops, bakeries and other yummy local places.  I got some sketching and painting time in too, and it felt so good to be by water and paint...  If you have read some of my past posts, you know that this is where I'm the happiest, by water.

Some of the paintings I did, the little brown blob to the right is a sketch of one of many rocks I found with fossils.  Love walking along the shores and look at rocks, day dream and just suck in the air and sounds of the wind and water.

I will post more later, now I'm trying to get the last bits ready in my studio so I can start painting...
I have so many ideas and plans, tons of pictures to go through.  This place has given me so much inspiration and I'm sure it will keep me going for rest of the year with things to do.  Oh and during this trip, I found something new to have a obsession or passion over {like my barns I have had this past years, and still do}...  Lets just say these need steam!!!

I hope all of you have had a great summer so far and I'm so looking forward to see what everyone else have created during the summer months.
