True Love

I remember hearing about this a few years back, and now I saw it again in the news (so I had to draw and paint it). Its about a male stork Rodan who has flown every spring about 13.000 kilometers from Africa to Croatia to meet up with his mate Malena, and he has done this long flight every year for five years now.

Malena cant fly due to an injury to her wing, in the winter months a man cares for Malena, so she will be able to survive the cold. Then each spring Rodan returns to her, and together they have chicks and he not only cares for them and Malena, but he teaches them to fly and get ready to migrate south when fall comes.


Its such a beautiful story and it shows that true love will hold on, no matter of distance or hardships.

I hope Malena & Rodan will have a wonderful and healthy bunch of chicks again this year.
