Space, Colours & Flowers...

Before I give any updates from this end, I wanted to say a huge thank you to everyone who visited my last post with "Where Bloggers Create" and my studio {to be} space.  Thank you for all your comments and emails, all so kind.  I have been busy, but when I find the time, I sit here and check out other bloggers and their spaces and what a treat it has been to be able to look around and see all the fantastic spaces that are out there.  So much ideas, inspiration {and I need it right now} and so much passion for all the work that has and are created in those spaces, all crafters and artists alike.  Brilliant!!!  You should really check out this if you haven't yet and you can find the list of everyone in this years Where Bloggers Create party.

So my space {the oven}, the great heat and dry spell has lifted some what and I can yet again enter my space without having to take a shower every 20 min after lifting something or just standing there pondering about all my ideas.  Its still hot, but evenings and nights have been wonderfully cool for the past three days, and we have only had rain one night and not even close to what we need.  I feel for the farmers right now, this can not be easy for them.  Needless to say, I have done only very little progress in here, had to concentrate on the main house and try to make it to a home rather than keeping it as a storage space for all our stuff.  But my son {he's such a good egg} and I manage to take down the upper cupboards {hurray} and now I have to do some drywall work before I can paint.
As you can see below, its still a sea of boxes, they have only been moved around and my desk found its way in there.
I went to Ikea to find us a new island for our kitchen and found a perfect one, but I also found a few small things for my studio and this is something I have wanted for years now {I would have rather bought something old and used, but haven't found it yet so I caved in and bought new}.  Cool enamel pots that will hang from hooks, I'm going to hang in above my desk...  When I know where I will place my desk that is.
For sketching and painting, I still haven't done any in my space but rather taken over the dining room table again.  This is where I work on my computer and do some sketching.

Having a new house & home is exciting, and its decorators dream to start up on a whole house to cover with paint and ideas.  And for a while now I have wanted to make colour changes from our old kitchen that was white and yellow with hints of red, to white and green with hints of yellow, orange and maybe some reds.  I love green, and its one of the colours that I always gravitate too.

Some Queen Anne Lace on our old kitchen island, and this island will move in to my work space.
Below is some early summer squash, don't they look lovely with those colours...  and they were good too on the grill.

And this is what stage we're at for our kitchen, paint chips and wall paper taped to the wall {the wall right now is powder pink, one of my least liked colours}.  On the chair you can see two different fabric samples, cant make up my mind...  More old style with contemporary touches, or graphic design pieces with traditional and contemporary, or modern with...  Blah Blah!!!
We're still working on it : )

So this is where and what stage we're right now, more will follow.  But before I leave here, I just wanted to show you these.  Pictures from the road side very near our house, I drove past a few times and each time thinking about how much I love that view and the flowers {Queen Anne Lace again}, and yesterday after driving past on my way to pick up some paint, I knew I had to stop on the way back and take some pictures and bring home some of these flowers.

Its a lovely view, but you would not know it from this but all around this spot the city is growing up very fast and sadly places like this is disappearing very fast as well.  All around this is huge big box stores, parking lots and new homes that feel like they pop up over night, and not to mention lots of streets and more cars.  Its so sad really and I hope we can at least hold on to this a bit longer or at least some of this will stay for good.  We all need this, stop and smell the flowers and breath!!!
