Where was my brain...

With my post of the Paraply drawings, where I asked the question "Should I colour or should I leave it or just add a touch of colour..." I got great feed back and ideas, and even though most said that they liked it as is but with only a touch of colour, and the little suitcase was the favourite to colour.

I thought about it back and forth and then finally thought I would add just a bit of colour, and just because the paper is what it is, watercolours were out of question (wont stick), so I dug out my old gouache paints and started to mix up some colours.

And this when it all just back fired, just one thing after the other went wrong.  First {by accident} splashed a few small spots to the page...  I tried to clean it off, but that just made it worse.  Then I tried to cover it with same colour as the paper, that made it even worse than before.  I then started to cover the page {the water part} over with a dark colour, then light and then added the colour of the umbrella...  And this is when I finally remembered why I don't like hate this medium.
Ugh, it just sucks poop!!!  I'm sorry, but there is no other delicate way to put it, I hate it.  It dries far too quick and it wont cover the way I like it, and its just not something I enjoy working with.

But do you think I would learn from this, heck no...  Instead I just had to give it one more try, so why not next page.  Painted the red suitcase and that was fine, but then of course I had to wonder of and just add one more colour "the sky" and as soon as I put the brush to the paper and the colour down, I kicked my self.  What was I thinking and where was my brain during the first learning curve with this {after all it only happen 20 min before this page}???

There was no turning back with this and I ended doing almost the whole sky, and with note to my self... Never use this again, or at least not right now for a very long time. So up on the shelf, or better of in to the box it goes {wont see it until I finally will start unpacking things in my new studio space}. This way I know the temptation will not surface to muck something else up and it wont just happen to splash on to anything {one can hope}. But what I will do, is to redraw the little girl and her paraply and case and I will do it on a different kind of paper.

Thank you again for all your feed back and ideas, I should have listened to you better...

On to the next page : )
