a quiet place

Yesterday, after a bit of running around and lunch, a friend of mine and I stopped at one of the cemeteries in the city. We sat down for a while to just enjoy the weather and draw & paint a bit.
I love going there, its quiet, peaceful, yet at the same time very much full of life. Birds all over the place, people walking around and you can hear the city rushing on in the distance... Life goes on.
I ended up painting these 6 grave stones (this is the view of them from the back), I just like how the have been places next to each other. Its very evident what time has done to them, weathered and worn by time. (mostly by acid rain, and that's too bad because they are worn far before their time).
I took some photographs too, I love this angel how she is holding a star in her hand and how she is looking over the stones.
Detail photographs of some stones, I just love the textures and colours of the old stones, rust stains and the mosses that have been growing on them for years.
