This is a drawing I made last year of Santa Lucia, its just a test picture that I want to work on more. I just find her jaw is too big, any thoughts?
St Lucia is celebrated in Sweden (and many other countries) on December 13th, it has a long history and background to where and how it came to Sweden. Its a celebration of light and giving, and every little girl in Sweden dreams of being St Lucia once in their lifetime. Lucia is dressed in white with a red ribbon tied around her waist, she has a crown of greens (lingonberry branches) and candles.
She brings morning coffee, special Lucia bread (saffron bread) and light to light up the dark morning skies, along with her she has small children that will sing special Lucia songs (and the other girls and boys are also dressed in white, the girls with silver garland in their hair and the boys have tall paper cones on their heads decorated with gold stars). St Lucia is celebrated all over the country, its very popular and all from small to large towns have votes on who will be the new Lucia. And its celebrated in schools and many children go and sing in hospitals, old age homes and other places, it is even broad casted on the TV. I included a small sketch so you can see what they look like.
